Lancashire Batting pair puts up a 501 runs partnership in a County Match: In the English County Championship of 2015, a new record has been set in the match between Glamorgan and Lancashire. Lancashire’s Alviro Petersen and Ashwell Prince contributed a partnership of 501 runs for the 3rd wicket in a day. The partnership kicked off in the 23rd over of the 1st day’s play when the 2nd wicket for Lancashire fell in the form of Karl Brown and the team was poised at the score of 104 runs.

Alviro Petersen and Ashwell Prince smacked double centuries each to contribute to a whooping partnership of over 500 runs in 89 overs. The partnership was broken when Prince was dismissed by David Lloyd. Prince’s fiery innings comprised of 261 runs of just 258 deliveries and it involved 35 fours and 7 sixes. He scored those runs at a strike rate of over 100.

Alviro Petersen played the anchor role in the partnership and he was dismissed shortly after Prince’s dismissal. Also, similar to Prince, Petersen was dismissed by Lloyd. He managed to score a total of 286 runs off 376 deliveries with the aid of 35 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of just over 76.

The 501 runs partnership between these two stands to be one of the best partnerships in the history of second division cricket. The Glamorgan bowlers seemed pretty much helpless in front of the pair and once they managed to set the tone on, bowlers could hardly bowl well against them. This record breaking partnership at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club Ground is perhaps one of the best in the history of the championship and with the aid of such a big partnership, Lancashire was put into a zone of comfort against Glamorgan. Lancashire was poised at the score of 698/5 when they declared their innings in the second session of the second day of the match.
