Indian cricketers Mayank Agarwal and Axar Patel were involved in a hilarious banter on Instagram. Virat Kohli and Co. are currently in a quarantine period before their tour of South Africa gets underway on December 26 with the opening Test at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. While Mayank is a part of the tour, Patel hasn’t made the cut for the tour of the African nation.

Mayank is one of the players, who’s quarantining before the tour. Hence, in order to pass his time, he conducted a Ask Me Anything session on Instagram. In the meantime, Patel disguised himself as a supporter and asked his teammate a funny question.

Axar asked, “Mayank sir big fan aap apne fans ke liye kya kehna chahoge.” (Mayank Sir, Big Fan. What message would you like to give your fans).

Mayank had a rib-tickling reply to Patel. He wrote, “Keep supporting and believing. Bas left arm spin mat daalo, bahut stiff competition hai.” (Keep supporting and believing. Don’t bowl left-arm spin because the competition is cut-throat)

Axar responded to Mayank and wrote, “Oye hoye hoye hoye what a player.”

Craig McMillian praises Axar Patel

Although he’s yet to be one of India’s best bets in overseas conditions, Patel has stamped his authority in Indian conditions. The left-arm spinner made his Test debut earlier this year against England and ran through the opposition batting.

In five Tests thus far, Patel has picked up 36 wickets with as many as five five-wicket hauls. He also shown his utility with the bat as well. He has earned praises from a number of former cricketers due to his performances. Former Black Caps’ batter Craig McMillian praised him as well.

“Axar Patel is one of those guys that doesn’t get talked about a lot but his record is phenomenal. Let’s face it, in many ways he is in the shadows of Jadeja and Ashwin because generally when India travel overseas, they don’t play three spinners,” McMillian said.

“So, he is the guy that is left out and the other two play. But as soon as you’re in home conditions and need three spinners, he is the key. He should be talked in the same breath,” McMillian added.
