Legends League Cricket 2022 set to start on January 20, final to be played on January 29

This league will plenty of retired international cricketers.

The inaugural edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) is all set to begin on January 20, and the official schedule of the tournament has been released. All the matches are going to be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat, Oman.

While the LLC is going to have two rounds and a final, there are also going to be three rest days during the games. The third and final rest day will be a day before the grand finale. Each of the two rounds shall consist of three games each. The first game would see the Indian legends locking horns with the Asia Lions.

The third team being the World Giants, which would consist of players from the rest of the world. Thus, all these three teams would face each other twice in the tournament. Another important point to be noted is the fact that all games are scheduled to start at 8 PM IST.

Shahid Afridi, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shoaib Akhtar to be part of Asia Lions

While the squad of the Asia Lions has already been announced, the squad for the other two teams haven’t been announced just yet. Nevertheless, the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Tillakaratne Dilshan will be seen playing for the Asian team.

It was earlier announced that Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be the brand ambassador of this league for retired legends. Having a big brand like him on board is definitely going to benefit the league. Besides, Ravi Shastri is appointed as the commissioner of the LLC. He had earlier said how proud and thrilled he was to be a part of this league. The former head coach of the Indian team had even gone on to give an overview of how good this tournament is going to be.

“It feels great to remain connected with cricket in the thick of the action, especially with the Legends of the game who have been champions in their own rights. It is going to be a lot of fun with some serious cricket going. These stalwarts have nothing new to prove but they have their reputation in line and I can assure you, it will be interesting to see how they do justice to it,” said Ravi Shastri
