Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who ruled the art of playback singing in Bollywood, passed away on Sunday, 6th February 2022, aged 92. It has been reported that she breathed her last around 8 am in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital where she was admitted for a long time. She was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms.
However, her health deteriorated after a while and she was pushed to a ventilator in her last days. It was in reports that she is critical and it was on Sunday morning that she bid farewell to the world. While the entire nation is mourning the loss of the legendary singer, cricketers also came in numbers to pay their last respect to her.
“There will never be another Lata Didi. End of an era as a Nightingale and jewel of India, Bharat Ratna #LataMangeshkar Ji leaves her mortal body, but she will live on in the hearts of generations to come through her soul-stirring music. May her soul attain Sadgati. Om Shanti,” tweeted former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad.

Former skipper and ace batter Virat Kohli also took to his Twitter to talk about the demise of Mangeshkar and sent his love and prayers to the family. The star cricketer added that her songs touched millions of people.

It is to be noted that her songs ruled the industry for decades and she was popularly called as ‘nightingale of India’. It has always been believed by Indian fans around the world that there can’t be a voice more melodious than that of Lata’s. For her brilliant contribution to the industry, she was honoured with the highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna back in 2001. She was the eldest of the five Mangeshkar siblings.
