India is fighting a war against the coronavirus as the number of daily Covid-19 cases is increasing rapidly in the country. In such tough times, many people have been coming up to do their bit to help the country fight the ongoing pandemic. The latest to join the bandwagon is India’s veteran off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh.

The Pune district in Maharashtra is facing tough times as the total Covid-19 tally has reached 7,63,174 with the district reposting as many as 9,841 new coronavirus cases daily. Adding to the misery, the death toll has touched 11,882 with 115 more patients succumbing to the infection in the district.

Thus to curb the rapid spread of the deadly virus, Harbhajan has offered his help to the Pune authorities in setting up a mobile Covid-19 testing laboratory in Pune. The laboratory can conduct 1,500 tests each day and promises to deliver the results of the RT-PCR tests within four hours of collecting the samples. Moreover, the test will be conducted for free for the people belonging to BPL (below the poverty line) while other citizens will have to pay a sum of INR 500.

The information regarding the same was provided by Chandrakant Patil, Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief. “Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh had approached us a few days ago and offered help to contain the COVID-19 surge. The mobile lab for COVID-19 testing will start at Vadgaonsheri tomorrow (Saturday),” Patil said.
