At the event, there were several awards given away to the players. The annual awards were given to the players for their good show in the calendar year of 2017.

Australian skipper Steve Smith was named as the Test Cricketer of the Year. Smith’s herculean run in the Tests has been widely appreciated. He was the highest scorer in the Test cricket during the year of 2017. Smith also led the Australian side to a thumping Ashes win this season. Opening batsman David Warner won the ODI cricketer of the year.

Warner’s consistency in the limited overs has been a big plus for the Aussies. Meanwhile, youngster Jhye Richardson won the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year. The previous fast bowler to have won this coveted prize was Sean Abbott in the year 2015. Richardson has played just 21 matches thus far in the domestic circuit and has scalped 43 wickets. Other big names to have won the award over the years are David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Shane Watson and Brett Lee.

Tasmania’s George Bailey was awarded with the Domestic Player of the Year Award. Last year, this was won by Cameron White. During the voting period of December 10, 2016 to December 7, 2017, Bailey amassed 1468 runs across Sheffield Shield, one-day domestic and Big Bash cricket at an average of 52.43.
