Yashasvi Jaiswal came into the Under-19s Cricket World Cup 2020 with a lot of expectations from the fans and critics due to his exploits for the Mumbai senior team. The left-hander did not disappoint anyone scoring four fifties and a century against Pakistan in the semi-final out of the six matches played.

He was the top-scorer and only player with a fifty in the finale that didn’t go India’s way. Yashasvi finished as leading run-getter of the tournament with 400 runs and was adjudged as the player of the tournament for his consistency.

4 – Yashasvi Jaiswal is only the 4th player with four consecutive fifty-plus scores in the history of U19 CWC. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shubman Gill achieved this feat in 2016 and 2018 respectively while Nyeem Young scored fifties in his last two innings of the 2018 edition and in first two innings of the current tournament.

Yashasvi is also the 3rd Indian with 4 or more consecutive fifty-plus scores in Youth ODIs after Shubman Gill (6 in 2018) and Gaurav Dhiman (5 in 2005).


5 – Yashasvi has recorded five fifty-plus scores in this tournament making him only the 3rd player with five 50+ scores in a U19 edition. Brett Williams of Australia in 1988 and Sarfaraz Khan of India in 2016 are the other such players.


15 – Number of fifty-plus scores for Yashasvi Jaiswal in Youth ODI cricket; the most by an Indian player in this format and also the joint 2nd most 50+ scores for any player. Sami Aslam (16) and Towhid Hridoy (15) are the other players with as many as 15 fifty-plus scores in Youth ODIs.

Yashasvi scored eight fifty-plus scores in the 2019-20 season are the joint-most for any player in this format alongside Rohail Nazir (8 in 2019 season).


24.23 – Yashasvi’s 1386 runs in Youth ODI cricket accounted for 24.23 % of Indian team’s runs. This is the 3rd highest contribution percentage of career runs in Youth ODI cricket. (Min: 1000 runs) Shubman Gill scored a whopping 30.67 % of team’s runs while Unmukt Chand accounted for 25.15 % of runs aggregated by the Indian team.


30 – Yashasvi has struck 30 sixes in his Youth ODI career; the joint 2nd most sixes by any player in this format. Unmukt Chand and Towhid Hridoy struck 38 and 30 maximums apiece. Jaiswal also struck 150 boundary fours in this format. He is the only Indian and one of the five players with 150+ fours in Youth ODIs.


69.3 – Yashasvi Jaiswal has a batting average of 69.3 in Youth ODI cricket which is now the 2nd highest among the 30 players to have aggregated 1000 runs in this format. Shubman Gill leads the list as he averages 104.45 with the bat in this format.


255 – Jaiswal aggregated 255 runs in the three knockout matches in this tournament; the most by any player in the knockout phase of a U19 CWC surpassing Cheteshwar Pujara’s 226 runs in 2006. Yashasvi and Sarfaraz Khan (in 2016) are the only players with three 50+ scores in knockouts of a U19 CWC edition.


400 – Yashasvi ended with 400 runs in this tournament while no other player even reached the 300-run mark. He is only the 8th player with 400+ runs in a single edition of U19 CWC. Shikhar Dhawan, with 505 runs in 2004, stands as the only player to score 500+ in an edition of U19 CWC.

Among these eight players, only Yashasvi Jaiswal (400 runs & 3 wickets), Alick Athanaze (418 runs & 3 wickets in 2018) and Cameron White (423 runs & 2 wickets in 2018) have managed to pick up at least one wicket.


1386 – Jaiswal’s 1386 runs in Youth ODIs are the 2nd most by an Indian behind Vijay Zol’s 1404 runs. Overall, Jaiswal is now the 6th highest run-getter in the history of Youth ODI cricket.
