In a tournament like IPL, every team needs some players who can hit big sixes at will. These power hitters also allow the fans to enjoy the game in a better way as they want to see some long sixes in the tournament. In the last edition of IPL, Nicholas Pooran smashed a 106-meter six, which was the longest of the season. Given the free flow of Nicholas Pooran in his innings, it was not a surprise. Some other big hitters like MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson were also able to hit sixes in a range of 100 metres.

So, who has hit the longest six in the history of the cash-rich league? The answer is former allrounder Albie Morkel, which is quite a surprising one given the heavyweights like MS Dhoni and Chris Gayle could not top the list. Morkel hit a 125-meter six against Pragyan Ojha back in the first edition i.e. 2008 when he was playing for Chennai Super Kings. In fact, he is the only player to cross the 125-meter mark in IPL. Morkel’s blistering knock against RCB when he hit 28 runs off an over of Virat Kohli is still alive in the memories of fans.

The second player on the list is also not a specialist batsman. Praveen Kumar smacked 124-meter six against Lasith Malinga in IPL 2011 making him a dark horse on this list. In the same season, Adam Gilchrist hit a 122-meter six when he featured for the Punjab team. Robin Uthappa’s 120-meter six while playing for RCB in IPL 2010 puts him at the fourth spot in the record tally.

The ‘universe boss’ Chris Gayle finds himself at joint fifth spot with his 119-meter six, hit in the 2013 season. Another player who is famous for hitting sixes is Yuvraj Singh who has also hit 119-meter six. Ross Taylor who started his IPL journey with RCB in 2008 hit 119 meter six in the inaugural season.

Ben Cutting played a blistering knock of 39 runs off only 15 balls in IPL 2016 final helping SRH win the title. In this innings, he hit a 117-meter six sending the ball out of Chinnaswamy stadium. Gautam Gambhir and Liam Livingstone are next on this list with 117-meter sixes apiece.
