The Indian team has arrived in England for their title defense of the ICC Champions Trophy. Skipper Virat Kohli addressed the media after having reached London. He looked very comfortable with the way things have been shaping up for the team. He expressed his satisfaction over the squad that India has fielded for the mega event. Also, he has backed his players to excel in the tournament.

Speaking a little off the track, Virat Kohli noted that he loves to play away games. The solitary reason for this is the fact that back in India, there is a lot of limelight around the players. Hence, there is very little privacy and the personal space for the players. Kohli noted that he loves staying normal and traveling to other countries gives him that opportunity.

“There’s so much attention on you back home that I love traveling away and playing in other countries around the world. I totally love just spending some normal time, which I’m not particularly able to do back home,” quoted Virat Kohli as per the quotes in Hindustan Times.

Speaking about the English conditions, team India has had a very bad time in the recent past. They were drubbed in the Test series in 2014 when they last toured the country. Kohli’s personal form in the tournament was not great either. The Indian captain remarked that there is no question of vengeance and he has evolved a great deal as a player in the recent times.

“It’s no sort of feeling of vengeance or anything like that. For me it’s a game of cricket. I surely have evolved from then to now, mentally as a player, and my skill as well. I like to take every game the same way regardless of where I play in the world,” he quoted.

Much needed self-time

Virat Kohli further conceded that he loves going for walks and spending time alone. He admitted that walking alone sometimes helps an individual find more about oneself. In addition to that, the game is always there to keep the players pleased.

“The first thing I actually felt like when I came was just to go for a walk and have a coffee, but I thought sleep might be better because of the hectic day forward. But I love walking by myself, just being by myself, not having people around at all. It’s refreshing in a way. You find out more about yourself, so that provides you with that opportunity plus you get to do what you love; that is play the game,” Kohli conceded.
