The Indian Premier League is all about thrilling encounters and last ball finishes. And that is what makes it one of the most viewed cricket leagues in the world. Sunday’s clash between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders was just that – an electrifying game until the end. Although KKR looked like the team that would win, Nitish Rana and Hardik Pandya turned the tables with some clean hitting.

Head coach Mahela Jayawardene was happy with his first win as Mumbai Indians’ coach and answered a few questions at the post-match press conference.

When asked what exactly was going on in his mind when Mumbai needed 60 off 24, he spoke about the nature of T20 cricket, saying that a few good shots can turn the game in your favor.

“It is T20 cricket! It’s a funny game I think. A bit of pressure and a few good shots created opportunities for us. I am pretty pleased that two young players carried us through.”

He further acknowledged how Rana and Pandya took up the responsibility and took the game away from KKR.

“ It was brilliant to see them batting till deep, especially Nitish, who anchored the innings upfront and then took the game deep and showed what he can do. Hardik came and finished it off and it is so pleasing to see that.”

When asked about the umpiring decisions from the last night, which created a lot of buzz, the Sri Lankan is hoping that the opposition takes Mumbai Indians wickets and not the umpires, “It happens. It is not in our control. I don’t think anyone makes those mistakes. But wish for a change that the opposition can take our wickets,”

Mumbai will next take on the 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. SRH got the better off Gujarat Lions yesterday, with a strong batting plus bowling display Both the teams – MI and SRH are looking in a good position and this can be yet another thrilling game.
