Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is one of the most impactful players and has played several match-winning knocks for whichever team he has represented so far. The right-handed recently recalled one of his most impactful knocks, which was against New Zealand.

Stoinis had bailed out his team during an ODI match played between the two neighboring countries with a powerful knock of 146* and took his team score from 67/6 to 280/10. Despite Australia losing that match by a margin of six runs, Stoinis was adjudged the Player of the Match for his excellent knock. However, the all-rounder himself said that he does not think about the knock too much, and the only fond memory that he had was that his father watched him play at the time.

“I honestly don’t think about it too much. I do have one very nice memory of it. Obviously from playing but about three years ago, I got a letter written to me from a lady that was going through cancer treatment at the same time as my dad,” Stoinis told Cricbuzz.

“Dad was actually getting chemo at the time, and he had the TVs turned on to watch the game and in the letter she, sort of, said to me that she remembers watching it and there was a guy there who was my dad that was getting all the TVs changed to the cricket channel, and she remembers watching him and his reactions and not really understanding why it meant so much to him. She thought maybe he was just a big cricket fan. And I remember speaking to him after that game,” he added.

Talking about Stoinis’ numbers in the ODI format, the right-handed batter has played a total of 48 matches and has scored 1,200 runs at a decent average of 31.57. He has also stroked six fifties and one hundred with 146* being his highest score.
