Mark Boucher's racism case hearing to take place in May 2022

Paul Adams alleged that Mark Boucher had racially abused him while singing a team song during his playing days.

Former wicket-keeping legend and current head coach of the South African side, Mark Boucher was accused of racism by his former teammate Paul Adams. And, this case will come for hearing in the month of May this year.

Adams alleged that Boucher had racially abused him while singing a team song during his playing days. And now, the advocate handling the case, Terry Motau said that Boucher wants to call some of his teammates who can come and testify regarding the matter.

“On behalf of Mr.Boucher, it was indicated that he intends to call some of the players to testify on his behalf,” said Motau as quoted by NDTV.

The nature of Mark Boucher’s misconduct is serious: Cricket South Africa statement

Cricket South Africa (CSA) stated that the allegations levied against Mark Boucher are serious in nature, and might even result in the termination of his employment. Adding that Boucher’s misconduct has resulted in a breakdown of his relationship with Cricket South Africa (CSA), the statement concluded by stating that the sanction will take place in front of the Chairperson of the disciplinary enquiry.

“The nature of your misconduct is gross and of such a serious nature to warrant termination of your employment. Your conduct has resulted in an irretrievable breakdown in the trust relationship between you and CSA. In the circumstances, the sanction of dismissal will be sought before the Chairperson of the disciplinary enquiry,” read the statement.

Further Boucher is also accused of not dealing with the controversy regarding some players not willing to take the knee for the Black Lives Matter movement as well.

Mark Boucher is one of the legends of South African cricket. In his illustrious international career that spanned a decade and a half, the current 45-year-old represented the Proteas in 147 Tests, 295 ODIs, and 25 T20Is. While the right-handed batter amassed 5515 runs in the whites, Boucher also scored 4686 runs in ODI cricket. He played his final international match for the South African side in the year 2012.
