Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Moeen Ali hilariously lauded Devon Conway for his third consecutive fifty, saying that his marriage is the reason behind his success in IPL 2022. Conway has played only four games for CSK and already has three fifty-plus scores.

Just when CSK were going through a rough patch and were struggling to find a proper replacement for their former opener Faf du Plessis, Conway emerged as a saviour. He opened the innings for CSK in the inaugural match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders, but failed to impress and walked out scoring mere three runs off eight balls.

He was then dropped from the playing combination and later left the bio-bubble to travel back home for his wedding. Ever since he has returned, Conway has given some prolific performances alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad. In a video shared by CSK, Moeen praised the Kiwi batter for his purple patch.

“Yeah, obviously marriage is working for him and he is doing well ever since. Look, he is somebody who gets a lot of runs, he is a run-getter, and he and Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) have started getting partnerships which we need, which we needed obviously after Faf (Du Plessis) leaving or going. It’s great going forward and he’s a brilliant player, he’s got great shots. It’s been really well and I’m really happy for him,” Moeen said in a video posted by the franchise.

Conway returned to the side against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and remained unbeaten on 85* (55). He struggled in the next game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore but managed to score a 37-ball 56, and followed it up with a blistering knock of 87 (49) against the Delhi Capitals in the recently concluded encounter.

His knock and his 100+ run partnership with Gaikwad helped CSK put up a big total of 208 runs on the board. Conway was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his sensational performance against DC as Chennai went on to win the game by a humungous margin of 91 runs.
