Former Indian captain and current wicketkeeper-batsman, MS Dhoni is the senior-most cricketer in the present Indian team. It’s the reason why all the young ones approach him for any advice. Often, visuals during a game have shown captain Virat Kohli taking suggestions from Dhoni for on-field decisions. Similar is the case with India’s leg-spin bowler Yuzvendra Chahal.

Recently, Chahal revealed that whenever he and his spin partner Kuldeep Yadav have any doubts regarding their bowling, they always turn to Dhoni, and other senior players, for inputs. Dhoni’s experience will be India’s biggest weapon as the team prepares for the journey to England and Wales for the World Cup.

In an interview to Hindustan Times, the 27-year-old wrist-spinner said, “Whenever I feel something, I always talk to the senior players — Virat (Kohli) bhaiya, Mahi (Dhoni) bhai, Rohit (Sharma) bhaiya, Shikhar (Dhawan) bhaiya. They always help me. When Virat bhaiya is not there, I always [speak to] Rohit bhaiya and ask him what to do and what not to do.”

“It is a big thing to play under Mahi bhai”

He also threw light on his friendship with Dhoni, saying they play PUGB together. “Mahi bhai and I play PUBG together sometimes (laughs). Seven-eight people play PUBG for two hours. We go for dinners, [have] fun. It’s a big thing to play under Mahi bhai. He was my first captain. Whenever we need help in bowling, Kuldeep and I always ask him.”

Furthermore, he rolled back the years and said that he never thought that his dream of playing for Team India would actually materialise one day. Having taken part in 40 ODIs and 29 T20Is, the player from Haryana has become an integral part of Indian cricket team’s set-up.

“Ten years back, while playing Ranji Trophy, I didn’t think I’d play for India. The journey has been very nice” the talented bowler added. Chahal would next be playing in the limited-overs home series against Australia, starting Sunday,  February 21.
