Megan Schutt silences critics pointing fingers at the possibility of baby with same-sex partner

Australia’s women cricketer Megan Schutt has been grabbing headlines lately after she announced that she is expecting her first baby with wife Jess Holyoake. It is a known fact that Schutt tied the knot with her long-time lesbian partner Holyoake in 2019 and on May 30, 2021, Schutt announced the arrival of their first baby. She took to her social media handle to announce that their first baby is expected in November this year.

Now, it’s quite a known fact that any matter associated with the LGBT community is still not discussed very openly in society. There is still a sense of social stigma attached to people indulging in same-sex marriage even after the thing got legalized totally. In the same line, when Schutt announced about their baby, her wife Holyoake had to bear rounds of distasteful comments on her social media.

Many chipped in to talk about the possibilities of the baby in a same-sex marriage. Many even mocked and abused Schutt’s wife by adding unnecessary things. In the same line, the Australian bowler has opened up and gave back to all the critics who pointed fingers at them. She added how a baby is still possible with several medical technologies (IVF) and people should know more about it.

“Alright. There have been MANY comments and/or quote tweets on the photo of my wife and me.  I’m very sick of giving the benefit of the doubt to those asking “how is this possible?” or even better, “who is the father?”

“If you have access to Twitter, then you would have access to the internet. So guess what fellas? Look it up. I understand that IVF isn’t a common topic in some countries, but to think all babies are conceived the “natural way” is an insult to more than just same-sex couples,” Schutt tweeted.

In the end, she concluded by stating that people should be more accepting towards these things and people coming up with all the hatred will no longer be entertained on her social media accounts.
