The youngest bowling sensation of Bangladesh Mehidy Hasan Miraz has received a special gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday. She has gifted him the land in Khulna which was granted by Khulna Development Authority (KDA). Mehidy is the off-spinning sensation in Bangladesh cricket currently who is taking giant strides in international cricket. However, the cricketer and his father have thanked the honourable PM for her great gesture towards him.

The 20-year-old cricketer made his debut at the international level last year in the longest format of the game when England had toured Bangladesh for the two-match Test series. The home side had famously beaten the poms in the series which was their first ever victory over the top test playing nation. Mehidy was the star of the game as he had scalped 12 wickets in the match by spinning a web around the England batsman. He was hailed as the new hero of the country and is now a key member of the side across all formats.

Miraz overwhelmed

Sheikh Hasina, the honourable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, had announced on November 2 last year that she would gift Mehidy Hasan Miraz a land after a sensational performance in his debut series. He was given 3.07 kathas or 0.05 acres of land at KDA’s commercial-cum-residential area under Khulna City Corporation. KDA arranged a ceremony on Monday where the PM herself gifted a plot to the youngster.

“When I got a phone call from the Prime Minister and learned that I had a chance to meet her I was overwhelmed. After learning of my family’s financial hardship, she allotted the land as an inspiration, like a mother. I had to struggle immensely for this position. So I want to promote cricket and share my experiences with newcomers,” Miraz was quoted as saying by bdcrictime.
