Yuzvendra Chahal has admitted that the road ahead in international cricket is not going to be easy for him as the batsmen have now seen him enough and will do their homework. But the wily leggie backs himself to do well as he thinks he has got sufficient versatility in his bowling.

The 2017-18 season was Chahal’s first full season for India as he was picked for all the limited-overs series the Men in Blue played and he proved his worth doing exceedingly well, not only on the subcontinent pitches but away in South Africa too.

However, there have been quite a few bowlers in the past who have wreaked havoc when they first burst onto the scene, but have faded away quickly. Chahal, however, seems to be pretty confident about replicating his success in future.

According to Chahal, while the batsmen will try and analyse his game, he will do the same and will prepare himself for each batsman accordingly as that’s what international cricket is all about, improving yourself and countering challenges every day showing the mettle to recover from the bad days which you will surely have at this level.

“If they start reading me, I’ll also read them better. I have enough variations in my repertoire. It’s about the mental strength and one must understand that things won’t go your way every day. The ability to come out of that bad day is the trick.” Chahal was quoted saying by TOI.

Chahal credits Bhuvi and Bumrah

Chahal also gave a lot of credit to the fast bowling duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah for the success that India achieved as a bowling unit in the limited-overs leg of the South Africa tour. He reckons the discipline which Bhuvi and Bumrah showed with the new ball upfront set the tone and the spinners when they came on later were able to capitalize on it.

“People tend to ignore the job done by new-ball bowlers. The first 10 overs bowled by Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah created the pressure. Yes Kuldeep and I got a lot of wickets. But it was about creating that pressure.” Chahal added.
