MI, KKR and RR have cleared their views on retaining players for IPL 2018

The IPL 2018 auctions,  is expected to be a huge one as many of the big names would be going under the hammer and also every franchise would be looking to balance their options. The IPL Governing Council will allow the teams to retain some number of players, which would be revealed in the next meeting of the council. As per reports, it is also speculated that the council are thinking on BCCI’s idea of retaining a maximum of three players for each franchise.

However, the big decisions related to the retaining of which players will hold the key in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. Recently, the current champions and the most successful IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians revealed that they would like to retain as many as five players for IPL 2018. Also some franchises like KKR and Rajasthan Royals also revealed that how many players they would like to retain.

Mumbai want five and KKR want one

As per Indian Express, Mumbai Indians have stated that they would like to retain five players from its current squad for the big auctions in 2018. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise also revealed that they want to keep only one player from its current side and the rest of the squad will go in the auctions next year. With many big names and specialists in their kitty, it would be very difficult decision for the franchises as to retain which players. It will also be interesting to see how the foreign players would play a huge role in the auctions.

CSK and RR reveal their choices

The eleventh edition would also see the homecoming of Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings after two years of suspension. The CSK franchise have already revealed that if given the option they would like to retain the biggest name of the league, MS Dhoni for its 2018 IPL campaign. On the other hand, the Royals want all its players to go in the auctions and do not want to retain any of its old names.

Therefore, it is highly expected that the decision on the number of players that can be retained will play a huge role in the mega event in 2018.
