Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was highly disappointed after the ultra edge showed that he had knicked a delivery from Tim Southee into wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson’s hands. From the naked eye, it seemed there was a clear gap between bat and ball. The on-field umpire was also confident that there was no edge and the sound had come off Rohit’s hips. However, after a review from KKR, the ultra edge showed a clear spike and the onfield umpire was asked to reverse his decision to out.

It was a big moment in the game, as Rohit was just batting on two off six deliveries and Mumbai Indians were desperate for a good start at the top. Rohit was quite frustrated with the decision and the DRS technology again garnered the limelight due to wrong reasons. The commentators and the whole crowd were surprised as the ultra edge had shown a spike even before the ball passed the bat. Hence, it has turned into one of the controversial moments from the game.

Kolkata Knight Riders crumble after a great start

Earlier in the game, Kolkata Knight Riders openers Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane were off to a flying start and registered their first 50-run partnership for the season. Iyer in particular was quite aggressive from the outset and played a fantastic hand of 43 off just 24 balls with four sixes and three fours. The brilliant start from Iyer ensured that Rahane could take his time with a 24-ball 25 and Nitish Rana joined the party once Iyer was dismissed.

Shreyas Iyer yet again perished early to the leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin while Andre Russell went after Jasprit Bumrah and lost his wicket soon as well. Rinku Singh played a good hand of 19-ball 23 with two fours and one six while the lower order batters were bundled up by Mumbai Indians spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. The right-arm quick bowled an amazing spell and finished with 5/10 in his four-over spell which included a maiden as well.

KKR despite cruising at one stage of the game, could end up with just 165 on the board for 9 wickets and they will be hoping for a better bowling performance to stay in the hunt.
