In the 23rd game of IPL 2022 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), MI’s newest entrant Dewald Brevis smashed Rahul Chahar for 28 runs in just five balls, which included a four and four consecutive sixes.

Mumbai Indians faced a setback when they lost their opening batters in the powerplay during the chase. But their scoreboard took a massive leap when Brevis, fondly known as Baby AB, smashed four maximums and a four in the ninth over of the second innings.

After Tilak Varma took a single off the first ball of the over, Brevis hit a four on the second ball as he rocked onto the back foot and hit the ball past the bowler. What followed next was unthinkable. He tossed up the third ball in the slot between the middle and leg stump as he went long for a maximum.

He went down on one knee on the fourth ball and knocked the ball over wide long on to hit a 102-meter six. Pune witnessed a carnage when he whacked the ball over deep mid-wicket to hit the third six in a row. On the last ball of the over, he got down on one knee again and cracked up the ball over long-on to register the fourth six in a row.

Dewald Brevis knocked up 49(25) during his time on the crease

He continued to create destruction on the field and fired with the bat by scoring a crucial 25-ball 49 in the game, before being dismissed by Odean Smith. His innings included a total of nine boundaries, five of which accounted for sixes. He was supported by Varma at the other end, as the duo put up a 50+ run stand during their power-hitting stroll.

PBKS put up a total of 198 runs at the loss of five wickets, leaving MI to chase 199 in 20 overs. Mumbai batters are bringing their best game possible so as to lead the team to their first win of the season and break the four-match losing streak.
