Former Australia skipper Michael Clarke has become the latest cricketer to unveil his autobiography. The book, titled ‘My Story’ takes a fan reading the book through the good and bad times in the illustrious and fantastic career of Michael Clarke. Earlier this month, South African skipper AB de Villiers also released his autobiography.

Nicknamed ‘Pup’ by his teammates for being the youngest players in the squad at one point, Clarke has traversed a similar path as has incumbent skipper Steve Smith. However, with injuries taking its toll on Clarke, he prematurely announced his retirement citing back issues. He, however, made a comeback play club cricket in Sydney suburbs as well as Hong Kong.

In spite of winning the World Cup in 2015, one of Clarke’s most treasured series wins would have certainly come against England in the 2013 edition of the Ashes series. The series saw the dominant Aussies complete a whitewash with Mitchell Johnson tearing the Brits to shreds.

Apart from this, Clarke will also be remembered as a classy batsman who impressed with his character, grit, and most importantly his hard work that paid off whilst he was nursing a chronic back injury. He took over from Ricky Ponting in 2011 in what was a supremely difficult role and a tough act to follow.

However, Clarke took the challenge head-on although he did not necessarily achieve everything that was achieved by his predecessor. Moreover, as captain, he also famously lost the 2015 edition of the Ashes in England. In spite of this setback, Clarke can be commended for his punctual achievements in the cricketing space on the pitch.

Apart from his obvious batting acumen, Michael Clarke is also a reputed as more than a useful left-arm spinner. He also boasts of best figures of 6/9 in Tests which was achieved against India. He has 31 and 57 wickets to his name in Tests and ODIs respectively.
