Michael Hussey backs India to register their first ever Test series win in Australia

Despite the fact that the Team India is currently involved in the Test series against England, the talks of their upcoming Australia tour in December have started. Such is the aura of this Virat Kohli-led side that the Australian players and media have started playing mind games almost 3 months before the tour commences. However, their former cricketer Michael Hussey feels that this Indian Test team has a great opportunity to beat Australia at home and register their first ever series victory.

Aussies led by Tim Paine are going through the worst phase in their cricketing history. They were humbled by South Africa in the four-match series which is being remembered for the ball-tampering scandal which saw the likes of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft being banned for a significant period of time by Cricket Australia (CA).

Hussey reckons that Australia is missing their gun players in the batting line-up and the visitors can trump them in the four-match Test series. “I am a little worried about Australia’s batting because we are missing two of our best batsmen in Smith and Warner. It is a wonderful chance for India to win its first ever Test series in Australia,” he was quoted as saying by Times Now.

Hussey’s advice to India

However, Michael Hussey was quick to caution Virat Kohli and his men about the threat the Aussie bowling attack possesses. The deadly trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins is the best in the world and have the ability to run through any batting line-up on any given day.

“If Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Nathon Lyon are fit and firing, India will have to work hard for runs. Australia have an excellent bowling attack,” he added.

India’s tour of Australia will begin on November 21 where they are scheduled to play 3 T20Is, 4 Tests and 3 ODIs until January 18.
