Former England skipper Michael Vaughan, on Tuesday, hailed Jasprit Bumrah as ‘the best all round seam bowler across all formats and conditions’ after the India pacer’s impressive show against Australia in the second ODI in Nagpur. Bumrah once again underlined his reputation as arguably the best bowler in the world with a stunning over in the tight chase as India went on to win the game by eight runs.
After taking some well-deserved rest following his heroics in the historic Test series against Australia where he was the joint highest wicket-taker, Bumrah hit the ground running, impressing in the first T20I against the Aussies. He had taken 3 for 16 in that game including his stunning performance in the 19th over where he had conceded just 2 runs in addition to picking up two wickets.
He was in form on Tuesday too, finishing the game with impressive figures of 2 for just 29 off his ten overs. The highlight of his show was definitely the final four overs he bowled. Virat Kohli introduced him in the attack in the 40th over and he impressed straight away by going for just three runs before conceding the same runs in the 42nd over.
Breathtaking last spell
The fast bowler was taken out of the attack for a while before the captain handed him the ball again to deliver the 46th and 48th over and Jasprit Bumrah completely changed the course of the game with a breathtaking spell.
In the 46th over, he conceded just 1 run and picked up the wickets of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Pat Cummins. In his following over, he once again conceded just one run before Mohammed Shami and Vijay Shankar helped India win the thriller in Nagpur.
Impressed with yet another stunning display by Bumrah, Vaughan took to Twitter to lavish praise on him, writing: “Have to say @Jaspritbumrah93 is the best all round seam bowler across all formats & conditions right now …..”
