Former England skipper Michael Vaughan rubbed salt to South Africa’ wounds in perhaps the most amusing way. Vaughan tweeted: “Give me C.. Give me H…Give me O.. Give me K…Give me Eeee.”
This simply means ‘CHOKE,’ the tag which continues to haunt the South African like a curse. Well, what else one can say of South Africa’s performance today. The Wankhede stadium today saw the probably the most epic T20 match to have ever taken place in the format’s history.
South Africa took on England in their Super 10 stage opener. Eoin Morgan won the flip of the coin and decided to bowl first. He was made to regret the decision right from the first over as Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock pummeled the England bowlers ruthlessly. JP Duminy and David Miller later capitalised the platform as South Africa amassed a massive 229/4 in 20 overs. The target looked to be impossible to chase. A win looked to be the possibility under any normal circumstances for the Proteas fans. However, this was a grave misconception as the Brits packed a surprise blow to the Proteas which knocked them over completely.
Jason Roy and Alex hales gave a blistering start to the chase. Joe Root then played a wonderful match-winning knock to see his side rocket past the target with 2 wickets to spare. England’s batting performance was a record-shattering one. This was the highest target chased in the World T20Is and the second highest one in T20Is.
The match saw an immense response from everywhere. But, it was Michael Vaughan’s tweet, which without any doubt was the best one.
Give me C … Give me a H … Give me a O .. Give me a K .. Give me Eeeeeeeeeeeee. .. #ENGvSA #Loveit
