Former cricketers Akash Chopra and Michael Vaughan got involved in a clash of opinions on social media platform Twitter. Both the retired batsmen are highly active on Twitter and come up with their opinions pretty frequently on the latest topic of discussions.

Michael Vaughan who was one of England’s best during his prime took to Twitter to stand against the Kagiso Rabada ban. According to the 42-year-old, it was very harsh to suspend Kagiso Rabada for using a foul word when the ICC seem reluctant to punish cricket teams for slow over rates. His tweet read “Rababa Suspended for 1 match for a couple of Words ….. Give me a break … what about the continuous slow over rates @icc !????????”

Akash Chopra quickly came up with a reply to Vaughan’s tweet where he tried to explain the situation to the former English batsman. Akash Chopra stated that Rabada had picked up 4 demerit points in a year which led to his ban, and not the cause of the incident that took place during the Test against England. He also mentioned that Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews was held guilty for encouraging slow over rate during the Champions Trophy. Akash wrote in his tweet “Incorrect. He accumulated four demerit points over a period of time. Same way SL captain got suspended for slow over Rate in CT.”

However, the comment did not go down well with Michael Vaughan and he chose to give Aakash Chopra a fitting reply. Vaughan pointed out the fact that his statement cannot be incorrect because it is completely his personal opinion. He further asked the Indian to stop poking his nose with his unnecessary smartness. Vaughan replied “Aakash.. It isn’t incorrect as it’s just my opinion .. so stop being a smart arse ..”

Kagiso Rabada ban:

Kagiso Rabada had a bad start to the first Test against England as the lethal bowler went without a wicket in his first 15 overs. After drawing first blood in the form of Ben Stokes Rabada made his feelings public by using foul language. He picked a demerit point for the incident which added up to the previous three he collected during his altercation with Niroshan Dickwella of Sri Lanka in February. Following the incident, Kagiso Rabada will have to serve a 1 match ban which will see him miss the second Test at Trent Bridge.
