Michael Vaughan, the former England cricketer, has taken a sly dig at the Indian players for dropping quite a few catches in the third and final ODI on Sunday, March 28. At the MCA Stadium in Pune, Team India dropped as many as four catches while defending 329, but the missed chances didn’t cost them as the hosts won by seven wickets to seal the series 2-1.

To start with Hardik Pandya dropped Ben Stokes near the boundary downtown. Thereafter, Pandya let go another chance, this time of Sam Curran, who also got another lifeline when T Natarajan dropped him. Shardul Thakur also failed to catch the ball when Mark Wood mistimed a pull shot. To India’s relief, they didn’t have to pay a heavy price as they got over the line.

In the meantime, Vaughan, also a former Brits’ skipper, took to Twitter and wrote, “I am afraid my fielding academy is open again this week for all the Indian Team !!!#INDvENG.”

Michael Vaughan’s tweet:

It’s been an amazing season: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, also had the back of the ones, who dropped the catches. The 32-year-old stated that the Men in Blue didn’t lack in intensity and hence, were able to get over the line.

“It’s most disappointing for the guy who drops the catch, but as much as you get disappointed, catches get put down and sometimes they cost you. There’s no lack of intent, and our body language was outstanding. Eventually, we got over the line,” Kohli said in the presentation ceremony.

Kohli was happy for the fact that India were able to get the better of the no.1 ranked English team. “This win has been sweet because it’s against the top team in the world, and we’re looking forward to the IPL. It’s been an amazing season, series, and this was a great way to finish it off,” Kohli added.

For England, Sam Curran was the standout among the batsmen and he kept the Three Lions in the hunt in the run-chase. He got the Player of the Match award after scoring 95 unbeaten runs off 83 balls with nine fours and three sixes.
