The former England skipper Michael Vaughan desires to have Steve Smith and Virat Kohli in the same team in the longest format of the game. Both of them are the leaders of Australia and India respectively across the formats. They are shattering the records and creating few of their own in the recent times as they are in prolific form. However, Vaughan has rated Steve Smith as the best Test player currently going around after his masterclass in the ongoing third Ashes Test in Perth at WACA.
Recently, he and Kevin Pietersen had rated the Indian captain as the best across all the three formats after owning the home season in India. He smashed centuries at will and also scored loads of runs in the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka. He scored two back to back double centuries before which he had scored a high-class ton on the green top at Eden Gardens. He finished the series with a half-century as Team India chased the victory on the final day of the third and final Test.
Vaughan’s IMO
Michael Vaughan is currently covering the ongoing Ashes Test match in Perth at the WACA and was in awe of the batting of Steve Smith. He eased into his innings early on after coming to bat with his team in trouble. Vaughan couldn’t resist himself and took to Twitter to praise two of the best batsmen in the trouble. His message read, “MO … @imVkohli is the best player across the 3 formats … But @stevesmith49 is the best in Tests … #OnOn #Ashes … Although I would really like both in the same team ….”
Here’s his tweet:

The Australian skipper is currently playing on 151 and is looking in great nick on the third day of the third Ashes Test match. Australia is closing in on the first innings score of 403 posted by England with Mitchell Marsh supporting him very nicely in the middle. The home side would love to take a huge lead by batting through the day and regain the Ashes at the WACA itself.
