Former England captain Michael Vaughan is known for speaking his mind out on social media. The man is known to be an admirer for Indian captain Virat Kohli and even advised that the latter should be given some rest before the World Cup after the disastrous campaign his Indian Premier League (IPL) side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced in the ongoing edition. However, even if the 44-year-old former cricketer has expressed time and again his high regards for Kohli, he hinted at amazement over his stay in India this IPL season.

Vaughan tweeted on Monday saying he loved traveling in India and spoke about seeing a wide variety of animals on the roads, including elephants, camels, sheep, goats, pigs, etc. However, his words “love traveling in #India” failed to win little hearts as the Twitterati lashed out him taking them as an indirect trolling of the country. One even accused him of being the member of a nation that had colonised India for centuries.

Vaughan asked to focus on England’s preparation for the WC

Another one said instead of making his observations on the WC, Vaughan should be focusing more on the preparation of the English team for the upcoming WC and warned that Australia, their arch-rivals, were returning back to form at the right moment. On Sunday, Vaughan said in a tweet that India would do it smartly by resting the Indian captain ahead of the big tournament, especially after the forgettable run he is having in this IPL.

The RCB have failed to win a single of the six games they have played so far and although Kohli’s batting form hasn’t been too bad, his team has not been able to make his contributions count. Both India and England are being seen as favourites to win the WC this year. The two teams are the world’s top two sides as per the ICC’s rankings although they have not succeeded to win their latest series – played against Australia and West Indies, respectively.
