Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan selected for MCC team Vs Afganistan

Pakistan duo Misbah Ul-Haq and Younis Khan complete a star-studded MCC line-up for the match against Afghanistan on Tuesday 11 July at Lord’s.

Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan have retired from the International Cricket after the West Indies tour. Their careers ended with a flourish with Pakistan clinching the 3 match series 2-1, winning the last match. According to reports, fans will get another chance to see the two legends in action.

Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan to play for MCC XI

Pakistani duo of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan complete a star-studded MCC line-up for the match against Afghanistan on Tuesday 11 July at Lord’s. The two batsmen have scored close to 28000 International runs in all formats between them. Misbah and Younis would join a list of legends of like Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Kumar Sangakkara that are due to play this historic match against Afganistan.

Younis Khan is the top-scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket having scored 10,099 runs at an average of around 52 in the Test Cricket. He also added more than 5000 runs for his country in the One Day International cricket.

Misbah was a late bloomer in a sense. Misbah had debuted way back in 2001 for Pakistan but got recognition in the latter stages of his career.  He also ended up with more than 10000 International runs for the country.

Excitement for the match

MCC team is full of superstars, most of whom have retired from International cricket. The team comprising of legends mentioned above would be led by former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum.

MCC XI has a total of more than 42000 International runs in the team. Apart from the host of the superstars mentioned above, MCC XI also has players like England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Chris Read and all-rounder Samit Patel.

Compared to the batting line-up, bowling attack is less fancy. Ireland pair Tim Murtagh and George Dockrell are a part of the bowling attack which also includes Surrey bowler Stuart Meaker and Durham seamer Chris Rushworth.

Afganistan are one of the fastest improving International teams. They would be confident coming into the match. They have recently registered their first win against West Indies in One Day Internationals history.
