Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s comeback to the national side was stalled at the 11th hour when he was pulled out of India A squad that is slated to play two Four-day games ahead of the senior teams’ two-match Test series against New Zealand. Pandya has now been replaced by Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar.

Pandya was earlier tipped to make his comeback during India’s tour of New Zealand and the fact that he was pulled out of India A squad at the very last minute raised quite a few eyebrows. The all-rounder was, however, seen practicing during Team India’s net session ahead of the first ODI against Australia in Mumbai.

Pandya, himself, took to social media, where he posted the pictures from his training session. The all-rounder captioned the pictures as, “Back training with the team. Missed this amazing feeling ”

Hardik Pandya’s ordeal with lower-back issues started with the Asia Cup in 2018

Coming back to the controversy surrounding Pandya’s fitness, it was reported that the all-rounder had failed a fitness test. But a BCCI source clarified on Monday that the all-rounder hadn’t failed any test and that he wants to work on his bowling action and his back before making an international comeback.

Pandya’s issues with his lower-back have resulted in him missing out on a lot of cricketing action. The all-rounder’s ordeal with lower-back issues started during the 2018 Asia Cup which forced him to miss India’s home season as well as the Test series in Australia. He came back for the ODI series, only to find himself once again on the sidelines after he was suspended for making obnoxious comments during a chat show.

Pandya’s issues with his lower-back once again flared during the World Cup, and although he did go through the tournament, it was clear that something had to be done about the recurring injuries. The all-rounder last played an international for India during the T20I series against South Africa, post which he went on to have surgery which ruled him out from action for four months.
