The India-Australia series was a huge success for India and a massive learning curve for the Australians. All the players now will take a short break and join their respective franchises for the Indian Premier League. However, former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson who was supporting the Australian team from down under has joined his IPL team.

Johnson has joined the preparatory camp of the Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai franchise picked the former Australian speedster for his base price INR 2 crores. He will train under the newly appointed Sri Lankan head coach Mahela Jayawardene. The bowling coach Shane Bond will work with Mitch and help the Mumbai players to get the best out of themselves.

Johnson tweeted about his arrival in India and that he was joining the preparatory camp. The camp is supposed to set up in Wankhede until the second day of the month of April. The team will then travel to the opening ceremony in Hyderabad.

Johnson tweeted that he is getting ready for the 2017 IPL season and thanked his admirers. He also crossed his fingers as he wished for a successful campaign. The tweet read, “Now test series is over, getting ready to play with @mipaltan 2017 season! Should be fun Thanks to the supporting fans, winning season.”

Mitchell who has previously played for the Mumbai Indians and has won the IPL with them will bolster the already powerful bowling line up. He was playing for the Kings XI Punjab last season who finished at the bottom of the table.

Johnson will be hoping to get some games during this year’s IPL as he has not been playing much cricket since retiring from the International cricket. The main role of this fast bowler will be to gear the youngsters up and share his invaluable experience.

This Indian Premier League season 10 is going to be one of the best as all the teams are busy sharpening their swords for the mega event.
