The city of Manchester and the whole of United Kingdom was shocked when suicide bombers attacked the Manchester Arena where American pop singer Ariana Grande was performing live. At least 22 people lost their lives while almost 60 were injured.

The cricketing fraternity that has already landed or heading towards London was also deeply affected by it and most of them sent out tweets and messages for those who suffered damage due to the tragic incident. Among those was New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan. He was shocked to hear the news and sent out prayers for the families of the victims.

McClenaghan tweeted- “Shocking news…. heart goes out to all those families involved. #ParyForManchester”

Islamophobic response

A certain follower replied to his tweet and asked him to stay safe and avoid Muslims. With that, pressing the blame of the horrendous act on the entire Muslim community. He replied- “Be safe Mitch, avoid Muslims.”

McClenaghan had no idea how to respond to such a terrible comment. He wrote back, “This is a terrible comment. To judge purely on someone’s race or religion is horrendous! Exactly why there is hate in this world!”

The guy still didn’t get it. “What is terrible is those persons who want implementation of Sharia Worldwide and killing people of other religion and atheists,” he asked the Kiwi.

Hatred and the felling of being different and isolated is what has given rise to the spread of terrorism to such an extent that it is a global menace now.

“And with comments like that you invite hate on all Muslims – Take a look at yourself.” McClenaghan tried to show him the right side.

But the guy was adamant and probably an islamophobic and that is what his replies suggested. “Should have said Islam,my fault. If people fail to recognise there is a problem with Islam we can never solve it,” he wrote back to the Black Caps star.

He further tried to point out that the problem was with those who support people affected in a few attacks while there are a lot of incidents that are not reported.

“There are many terrorist attacks going on worldwide, but only those on important cities get limelight.Tweets and hashtags are not enough,”McClenaghan hasn’t replied to the last tweet yet and seems unlikely that he would.
