Rohit Sharma recently led Mumbai Indians to their fourth title in IPL 2019, as they defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final on May 12. This was Sharma’s fifth IPL title as a player and another feather in the captain of the Men in Blue and Gold. One of the constants in MI’s three IPL title wins in 2015, 2017 and 2019 has been New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan.

McClenaghan made his IPL debut in 2015 for the Mumbai-based franchise and helped them win their second title and was a regular feature in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, winning another trophy in 2017. He was then released by the team in the auction of IPL 2018 and went unsold. He was then rehired by MI as a replacement for injured Jason Behrendorff and was retained for IPL 2019.

McClenaghan reveals the funniest sledge to MI captain Rohit

Mitch picked 71 wickets in 56 matches with the best of 4/21 and in the IPL 2019, he accounted for 3 wickets in 5 matches with the best of 3/40 with an economy of 7.88. The Kiwi speedster has been always at the beck and call for the Rohit Sharma-led outfit and has always proven to be the go-to man whenever MI needs a wicket. In the final, McClenaghan didn’t pick any wickets but gave away just 24 runs in his four overs.

Recently, the cricketer revealed the funniest sledge he subjected Rohit Sharma to in international cricket. This dates back to India’s 2014 tour to New Zealand when the hosts were on the top of the visitors for the majority of the tour in the limited-overs format. The camaraderie between Rohit and McClenaghan is surely a thing to appreciate.

He shared a throwback pic on his Instagram account after dismissing Rohit and while giving him a send-off. The Hitman commented on the pic saying, “You got better of me there Mitch! Although really didn’t understand what u said.”’

To this, McClenaghan showed his quick wit and replied, “@rohitsharma45 think I said ap kaise hain?” (How are you).
