Mitchell Starc has developed himself as one of the prolific pacers of Australia while carrying the legacy of veterans like Glenn Mcgrath and Brett Lee. The speedster took the world by storm with his lethal bowling performance in the World Cup 2019. Starc scalped 27 wickets in the tournament with the best figures of 5/26.

Alongside proving his forte in the international circuit, Starc has been delivering magnificent performances even in domestic cricket too. The left-arm pacer, who is currently playing for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield grabbed the headlines yet again by producing a unique delivery.

In a match against Western Australia, Starc stunned everyone in the manner he dismissed the opener, Josh Philippe. Starc’s delivery managed to hit Philippe on the bat first followed by making contact with both the pads only to go on and hit the stumps. Everyone on the field including the batsman was baffled by Starc’s mysterious delivery.

Starc has proved his caliber in all formats of the game. The 29-year has 172 scalps in 85 ODIs including seven 5-wicket hauls. He has also a phenomenal record with the red ball. He has taken 215 wickets in 52 Tests at an average of 28.3. Starc will certainly be penned in the history books for Australia as one of the most lethal fast bowlers to have embraced the game. He is currently sitting at the eighth spot in the list of bowlers with most ODI wickets for Australia.

Injuries were a major roadblock in Mitchell Starc’s career

Australian coach Justin Langer also has identified Starc as the world’s best white-ball bowler. Langer also lauded Starc’s ability to bowl at the death and his phenomenal performance in the ICC World Cup 2019. According to Langer, Starc started grabbing the headlines by his performance in the World Cup 2015. However, injuries were a major roadblock in Starc’s career. The pacer bounced back on the scene after emerging as the leading wicket-taker in the World Cup 2019 by scalping 27 wickets.

Starc’s recent record in the shortest format of the game has also been productive. The left-arm pacer has grabbed eight wickets in his last five T20Is. Australia will be placing their bets on Starc to transpire as a game-changer in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
