Mitchell Starc's wife Alyssa Healy has a hilarious reply to her husband coming to bat at No.5 against India

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first in the series-deciding match, being played in Bengaluru, the Aussies decided to send in Mitchell Starc at number 5 in the batting order. This decision came in after a strong foundation of a big score had been set and there was a need for someone to accelerate and take the score higher. So, Starc, who has 354 runs in ODIs, including a half-century was promoted up the order.

Following this move, Fox Cricket tweeted a picture of Starc with the caption, “Australia’s new No.5 is… Mitchell Starc.” To this tweet, Alyssa Healy, who herself is a wicket keeper batsman, replied with a ‘facepalm emoji’. The emoji is generally used to express embarrassment at the ineptitude of a person. And, rightly so, Starc’s stay on the field was pretty short-lived.

Starc was out on a duck after facing just three balls. But, this would not have bothered the Aussies because any contribution from Starc at that point of time would have been a bonus and there was absolutely no value attached to his wicket as such. When Starc departed, the scoreboard read 173 runs for the loss of four wickets. After his departure, the following Australian batsmen made small contributions, while Steve Smith stood on one end, scoring runs and watching his partners come and go.

Steve Smith’s century propels Australia to 286

Smith’s knock of 131 runs off 132 balls, along with a fifty by Marnus Labuschagne propelled the Australian total to 286 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of 50 overs. The pick of the Indian bowlers was Mohammed Shami. Shami in his quota of 10 overs, was slightly expensive, giving away 63 runs, but the wickets he took were really important. He was responsible for the early dismissal of David Warner, the wicket of a set Steve Smith, and the lower order batsmen, Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa.

With a total of 287 runs to chase, that too in the series decide, Virat Kohli and his men will put in all that they’ve got, while Starc, even after failing with the bat, will have the responsibility to lead the Australian bowling attack and win the match for his team.
