Moeen Ali overhauls Ben Stokes in the latest Test Rankings

Steve Smith still top Test Batsman while Jadeja holds the top spot for bowlers

Man of the match in the First Test between England and South Africa at Lord’s, Moeen Ali, due to his superhuman efforts, overtook the Golden Boy of English cricket, Ben Stokes in the latest Test rankings for all-rounders. Shakib Al Hasan still holds the tops the table with 431 points followed by Indian spin twin Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin at second and third place respectively. Ben Stokes had to give away his place to his teammate to secure the fifth position.

Moeen Ali scored 87 in the first innings and stitched a vital partnership with his captain which helped his team post a daunting total in front of the visitors. He backed up his brilliant knock with the bat with a 10 wicket haul in the match. For the batsmen, Steve Smith seems miles ahead of the rest as he tops the table with 941 points in the bag. After his magnificent knock of 190 in the first innings of Lord’s Test, Joe Root managed to reduce the difference between the Top 2 batsmen in the rankings. Kane Williamson is placed at number 3 with 880 points.

ICC All-rounder rankings

Only 8 points lie in between Root and Williamson. Root overtook Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson in second on the batting rankings, while wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow broke into the top-10 at the expense of South Africa veteran Hashim Amla.India’s number 3 and number 4 batsmen, Chateshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, hold the fourth and fifth position in the table.

The other Indian in the Top 10 is KL Rahul, who is currently recovering from his shoulder injury. Indian spin twin, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, are comfortably placed as the top two bowlers in Test according to the latest rankings, while Rangana Herath holds the third position of the table to ensure spin dominance on Tests. Mitchell Starc, after a while, is out of the Top 10 bowlers list as Vernon Philander swapped places with him for the ninth place.
