The replacement draft for the second edition of the PSL was named yesterday. All five franchises named their replacement players in the meeting held at National Cricket Academy at Lahore. In a very surprising update, English all-rounder Moeen Ali has pulled out of the tournament a day after the drafts were named.

Yesterday, the Quetta Gladiators had named Moeen Ali as their replacement player for West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite. Brathwaite had earlier confirmed his unavailability for the T20 league. Now, as per updates in PSL-T20.com, Moeen Ali has cited personal family commitments as the reason behind him pulling out from the mega event.

Quetta Gladiators were quick to rope in his replacement, though. They have now named Brad Hodge as the replacement for the English all-rounder. This is not the first time Hodge will be a part of the PSL. He represented the Peshawar Zalmi in the first edition of the tournament. In another update, English all-rounder Samit Patel has been named as the replacement player for Tamim Iqbal in the Peshawar Zalmi squad.

Samit Patel will replace Tamim Iqbal in partial duty after the latter leaves the tournament midway due to international commitments. Tamim Iqbal will be a part of the round robin leg of the tournament. In case, Peshawar Zalmi make it to the playoffs, Samit Patel’s services will be roped in.

The replacement drafts for the PSL were picked at the National Cricket Academy at Lahore yesterday. The meeting saw all the five franchises choose their players in case some members of their team are unavailable midway through the season. Karachi United were the only franchise to have named no replacements. The draft contained the names of players who would replace the players that fail to participate in the PSL this year due to a variety of reasons – ban, availability, injury or NOC.
