Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir is all set to add yet another franchise to his ever-growing list of teams after agreeing to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. The left-arm pacer has signed up with Pune Devils for the upcoming edition of the tournament. T10 League’s official page confirmed the news on Twitter on Wednesday. Karnataka Tuskers have been renamed as Pune Devils.

Having retired from Test cricket last year and consequently falling down the pecking order in Pakistan team, Amir has been busy playing franchise cricket across the world. Recently, he played in the Lanka Premier League where he plied his trade for Galle Gladiators. The pace star played a key role in Gladiators’ run to the final where they lost to Jaffna Stallions.

He was the fifth highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Mohammad Amir picked up 11 wickets including a stunning five-wicket haul as he helped Gladiators bounce back from a disastrous start to finish as runners-up. Amir will be eyeing a similar performance in the upcoming T10 League. He is not new to playing in the tournament, having previously plied his trade for Maratha Arabians.

All eight teams to compete in Abu Dhabi T10 League

The Abu Dhabi T10 League has confirmed that the eight teams, which participated in the tournament’s third edition last year, will return for the fourth season. The upcoming season of the competition is set to be played from January 28 to February 6, next year at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. The tournament had to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was originally set to be played from November 18-29. The eight sides that will participate in the upcoming edition are Team Abu Dhabi, Maratha Arabians, Bangla Tigers, Deccan Gladiators, Qalandars, Delhi Bulls, Northern Warriors, and Pune Devils.

“We are thrilled that our team owners have decided to return for another season of Abu Dhabi T10. This multi-year commitment illustrates the confidence the team owners have in the fast-paced ten-over format. Our team at TSM, led by our Director for Strategy & Development Haroon Lorgat, have done a spectacular job bringing our partners together and ensuring a cohesive ownership platform to propel us forwards to our best ever event, Shaji Ul Mulk, Founder and Chairman, T10 Sports Management (TSM), recently said.
