36-year old Pakistani veteran cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has been ruled out of the New Zealand tour following his failed bowling test. It has been over a year since Hafeez had his action reported and banned for illegal bowling action. He was marginally successful with his part-time spin and has over 50 wickets in ODIs and close to 100 wickets in Tests.

A tweet from a prominent Pakistan lawyer read: “Mohammad Hafeez failed to clear his bowling action test and he will not be a part of Pakistan team for the New Zealand tour.”

Hafeez had been a part of the Pakistani side that had toured England. This was Mickey Arthur’s first ever tour as Pakistan coach and something that could not have come at a better time for the South African national as he did what most could not. He drew 2-2 against the Brits at a point when they were seemingly unbeatable at home.

Hafeez was in terrible form during the series as his opening partner Azhar Ali impressed with the bat. Hafeez was eventually left out of the side for the final Test at The Oval which the visitors won and where Sami Aslam dismissed him from the side.

Mohammad Hafeez was also left out of the side for the ongoing series against the West Indies. He was also not a part of the ODI squad where the Pakistan management was able to keep him away from the squad. He was also not a part of the Test squad, something that the Pakistanis are on the brink of completing a whitewash.

Pakistan will kick-off the summer down under with a tour of New Zealand to come next.
