In what can be called a major development, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Hasnain is set to undergo a test on his action on Tuesday (January 18). Hasnain recently finished a five-match stint with Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22. Umpires in the competition reported his bowling action and the 21-year-old now has prove the legality of his action at the ICC-accredited biomechanics laboratory in Lahore.

It must be noted that Hasnain, who has a hat-trick in T20Is, is known to set the speed gun on fire. He even once bowled a 155kph delivery in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Owing to the same, many back the 21-year-old to go a long way in international cricket. The right-arm fast bowler also managed to make a statement in his debut BBL season.

Mohammad Hasnain was impressive in his debut BBL season

Signing as a replacement for English pacer Saqib Mahmood, Hasnain registered match-winning figures of 4/22 on his debut game against Brisbane Heat. Speaking of his overall numbers, Hasnain took seven wickets at an economy rate of six runs per over. It must be noted that Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques accused Hasnain of chucking.

He was heard on the stump mic saying “nice throw mate” to Hasnain, after the latter bowled him a bouncer. Although Hasnain couldn’t pick up a wicket in that game, he gave away just 22 runs in his quota of four overs. Meanwhile, the youngster failing the Test would be a major blow for Pakistan cricket.

Although the youngster has just played a handful of international matches, he has managed to make a mark. He scalped 17 wickets in 18 T20Is which also includes a hat-trick. As far as ODIs are concerned, the pace merchant has 12 wickets in eight outings including a five-wicket haul. Opining on Hasnain’s abilities, Sydney Thunder coach Trevor Bayliss lavished heavy praises on him.

Hasnain brought a bit of pace, said Bayliss. “Even though he is only a young guy, he brought his international experience with him. He has pace, a good yorker, and he showed that even in T20 cricket, that extra bit of pace can be difficult to play,” stated Bayliss.
