Former Indian opener and commentator Aakash Chopra is known for his expert advice and comments on the various matters of the cricketing world. He runs a YouTube channel where he puts forth his opinions on any of the relevant topics hitting headlines in the field of cricket. In the latest interaction on Star Sports, the commentator opined that Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi can win a place ahead of Kane Williamson in the Sunrisers Hyderabad line-up in the coming IPL.
Chopra, along with Sanjay Manjrekar, discussed the outstanding form of Mohammad Nabi for St Lucia Zouks in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League. During the same interaction, they emphasized the stunning all-round capabilities of Nabi, and Chopra stated that Afghan cricketer has been setting the tournament on fire.
“Mohammad Nabi has owned the CPL till now. It has been his CPL with both bat and ball. I think he has punched above his weight if you talk only about his batting. And in bowling, if you are giving only 4.5 to 4.75 runs per over, it is almost like Test match bowling.”
In fact, Manjrekar is of the opinion that performances of Nabi have been dominating than that of Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan in the ongoing CPL. Nabi has been displaying match-winning capabilities with both bat and ball.
Mohammad Nabi has had a bigger impact than Rashid Khan: Sanjay Manjrekar
“Nowadays Rashid Khan bats well also. But Nabi is probably a better batsman than Rashid Khan, and the latter is better in bowling than Nabi. If we see their impact in the tournament, I feel Mohammad Nabi has had a bigger impact than Rashid Khan.”
The former KKR player feels that if Nabi keeps moving like this, he could be a potent threat to Kane Williamson’s spot in Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL. Manjrekar also feels that all-rounder can do well for the team in low order. SRH can be really happy at the moment, but Williamson might be bit worried.
“And if Nabi is batting well, then I feel there is a question mark on Kane Williamson’s place. Kane Williamson will be a little worried. but Sunrisers Hyderabad will be very happy,” Chopra included
