Bangladesh pacer Mohammad Saifuddin is not happy with the national team management showing no concern over the his injury recovery and expressed displeasure over it. The right-arm seamer last played an international game for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and has been out of the side for more than five months due to a back injury.

Saifuddin has been a regular wicket-taker for the Bangladesh side since his debut in 2017 and played an important role alongside Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. He can be very handy down the order as well with two half-centuries to his name in ODIs, however, he might have to wait for his opportunity in the national team again. Shoriful Islam has done really in the meantime and the left-arm seamer has sealed his spot in the playing XI which makes it tough for Saifuddin.

No one from among the national team’s management contacted me: Mohammad Saifuddin

Saifuddin mentioned that he has been out of the field for more than five months, but hasn’t received a single call from the Bangladesh management or the coaching staff to enquire about his rehabilitation. He added that he would like to expand on the situation more once he gets back to the national side and aspired to turn his focus on the Dhaka Premier League.

“I am not on the national side and I am not thinking of the national team. When I get back on the side I will think again. I have been out of the field for five-and-a-half months. No one from among the national team’s coaching staff or management contacted me. So what can I say by myself? When the team feels I am required, I will talk about the national team. Now I am in Abahani and my focus is here,” Saifuddin told reporters at Mirpur.

“My target is to play well in the Premier League. I am not thinking of whether I will get into the national team after playing DPL. What will happen will happen. I want to go match by match,” he added.
