Virat Kohli has changed the face of Indian cricket ever since he has taken over the captaincy of the Men in Blue across all the formats. Recently, the Men in Blue triumphed in South Africa in the limited-overs leg of the tour and lost the Test series by a very close margin which was keenly fought. Kohli’s captaincy was also praised by many including some of the former cricketers. However, the Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has lavished similar kinds of words for him for constantly backing the bowling unit.

Shami was an integral part of the Test squad which fought bravely against South Africa. He led the Indian bowling attack well in adverse conditions. Moreover, his career has been marred due to the injuries ever since the conclusion of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup and mostly plays in the longest format of the game. He is in the plans for the World Cup next year and might be the back up for the fringe players like Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Kohli always pinpoints the mistakes

Mohammad Shami cleared that Kohli pinpoints the mistakes of the bowlers but also backs them to come good. “We are a top class bowling unit and our captain and coach have that belief in us to pick up 20 wickets in the match. Kohli always pinpoints the mistakes we make as players on the field during the match and gives us his constructive feedback about the same. He backs us to the hilt despite worrying about the on-field results. We believe in giving our 150 percent on the field,” he was quoted as saying by India TV.

He also added that there is a lot of trust over each other in the change room which makes them believe that they can win every game. “It doesn’t matter whether we win or lose, we always stay together as a unit and never lose that trust in the players. The captain and coach have that belief in the team that we are a good unit and have that in us to perform at the biggest stage. Our fast bowling unit have bowlers who can regularly clock over 140 plus,” Shami added.
