Monty Panesar to play for Lashtings All Stars at the Dalton CC

English left arm spinner Monty Panesar will take part in the match between the Lashings All Stars XI and the host club at the Dalton CC. Panesar will play for the Lashings All Stars alongside a number of retired Englishmen going by the name of Jake Dernbach, Ajmal Shahzad, Chris Schofield, Martin Bicknell and Warren Hegg.

Former Indian Test opener Wasim Jaffer will also be a part of the visiting All Stars XI. Former Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has also been included in the team and will be seen donning the All Stars XI jersey. Henry ‘Blowers’ Blofeld, star of BBC Radio’s Test Match Special team, will be commentating live from the sidelines.
There will be a junior coaching clinic in the morning which will kick start the day’s events. After the completion of the clinic, the Lashing stars will hold a session which will be followed by the T20 clash in the afternoon.
The gates will be opened for the match at 2 pm in the afternoon and the general ticket price has been kept at £10. Tickets are available both in advance and on spot. There are also corporate packages and sponsorship opportunities still available.
Monty Panesar whose roots belong to India has featured in 50 Tests and 26 One Day Internationals for England. The bowler has 167 Test wickets to his name while his ODI wickets tally stands at 24. Panesar made his debut for the Three Lions against India at Nagpur in the year of 2006. He earned his first ODI cap a year later in 2007 against the mighty Aussies at Melbourne.
While his Test career stretched for 6 years till the year of 2013, his ODI career did not even last a year. He played his last ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Panesar’s last test was against Australia in Melbourne, where he played his inaugural ODI.
