MS Dhoni and Infosys, one of the country’s leading Information technology (IT) companies, share the same birthday on July 7, 1981. Narayana Murthy, the Infosys founder, revealed the same on Monday, August 17, two days after Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. He stated how MSD has proven that skills and hard work can help one overcome any kind of hurdles.
To bid adieu, neither did Dhoni call for a farewell match nor did he call for a press conference. It was via a post on Instagram that he decided to hang his boots for Team India after serving them for 16 years since 2004. About his career, even the Infosys founder heaped praises on him.
Narayan Murthy opines on MS Dhoni
“Like Infosys, Dhoni too demonstrated that people from ordinary mofussil middle class backgrounds can succeed in today’s India if they have the skill, if they work hard, and if they have high aspirations. Interestingly, both Dhoni and Infosys were born on July 7, 1981!” Murthy wrote in his column for The Times of India (TOI).
Murthy mentioned how the corporate world should take a leaf out of Dhoni’s books regarding acting as per the situation. He also put forth examples of India’s wins over Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup, and their triumph in the 50-overs World Cup final in 2011 versus Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
“The equanimity that Dhoni demonstrated after a match, whether it was a win or a loss for India, showed how a good leader should react to wins and losses for his company in the marketplace. I have no doubt that Dhoni will continue to serve Indian cricket for several decades to come. I wish him the best of everything,” he stated.
Dhoni announced his international retirement, writing, “Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout…consider me as retired.” Soon after, wishes from every nook and corner of the world poured in for the 39-year-old from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Suresh Raina also followed suit on the same day, which also happened to be India’s 74th Independence Day. Both Raina and Dhoni will now be seen in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), starting September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
