MS Dhoni announces retirement from test cricket: In what has come as a surprise to many, Mahendra Singh Dhoni the captain cool of the Indian team has announced his retirement from test match cricket with immediate effect. Just an hour or so after the third test match of the Border Gavaskar trophy at the MCG ended in a draw, with that Australia also won the series 2-0 with a test match to go. A BCCI press statement announcing his retirement was released.

The BCCI Hon. Secretary Sanjay Patel released the same on the BCCI website bcci.tv and I quote, “One of India’s greatest Test Captains under whose leadership India became the No. 1 team in the Test Rankings MS Dhoni, has decided to retire from Test Cricket citing the strain of playing all formats of Cricket.

M S Dhoni has chosen to retire from Test Cricket with immediate effect in order to concentrate on ODI and T20 formats.

BCCI while respecting the decision of M S Dhoni to retire from Test Cricket wishes to thank him for his enormous contribution to Test Cricket and the laurels that he has brought to India.

Virat Kohli will be the captain of the Indian Team for the Fourth and Final Test against Australia to be played in Sydney from the 6th of January 2015.

Dhoni in the post match presentation did not hint any thing of that sort and when it comes to him he has been that sort of a guy who likes to keep his cards close to his chest. Respecting his decision and the test career that he has had, we would take this opportunity to thank MS Dhoni for taking the Indian team to the highs in test cricket it never scaled before.
