Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s shots may be a treat to watch for the fans and those in the stadium, but they are massively destructive as well. Dhoni’s shots are more about power and venom rather than technique and timing. We got another example of the same when team India took the field to for their first practice session ahead of the second One Day International against Sri Lanka.
The main story:
MS Dhoni went into the nets with the willow in his hand and did not turn out to be a pleasant day for a video analyst. The video analyst was busy recording clips of the destructive right hander’s shots without being aware of the danger that was coming towards him. Dhoni dispatched a certain delivery for a lethal straight drive which went straight to the video camera and crushed its stands. The camera fell on the ground before anybody could catch it. Though there was no news of the camera being damaged, it was quickly packed and taken off.
MS Dhoni successfully made it to the Indian squad after much doubts over the selection of the senior cricketers in the series. Yuvraj Singh had to face the axe but Dhoni earned a berth for himself. However, Cheif Selector MSK Prasad made it clear that the stalwart’s performance will be monitored closely and he will have to perform to maintain his position in the team.
Dhoni did not get a chance to bat in the first ODI as India crushed Sri Lanka with the loss of just 1 wicket. Opener Shikhar Dhawan continued his fairytale form as he slammed yet another ODI century scoring an unbeaten 132 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli supported him brilliantly by adding 82 runs on the scoreboard. Kohli now averages a staggering 726 as far as successful run chases are concerned.
