Ending their woeful run in the on-going IPL 2020, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to back to winning ways after defeating Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets. The Yellow Army was in dire need of a victory and they finally bounced back by registering a commanding 10-wicket victory over KXIP.

The much-needed victory ended CSK’s three-match winless run and they also climbed up to the sixth place from the bottom position in the points table. The Chennai side, after winning the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians, had slumped after suffering three losses.

With a dominant victory over KXIP, CSK fans finally witnessed some sunshine. After batting first, KL Rahul’s men posted 178 runs on the board. The Punjab side was 152 for 2 after 17 overs when Shardul Thakur delivered a game-changing over. Along with scalping the prized wickets of Rahul and Nicholas Pooran on consecutive deliveries, Thakur only conceded three runs in his six deliveries.

CSK will now face KKR on Wednesday

In response, the experienced pair of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis left KXIP hapless with the opening stand. The CSK openers stuck to the crease until the end and guided the Men in Yellow to a 10-wicket victory. Watson scored 83* while du Plessis scored 87* as the three-time IPL champions hunted down the target with 14 balls to spare.

Twitter erupted after CSK’s impressive victory. Fans expressed their delight after seeing Dhoni’s men getting back on track. A day after the victory, the Yellow Army also achieved another milestone. The franchise has now hit 6 million followers on Twitter. The most consistent side in the league, CSK has a big fan base out there.

On hitting a staggering 6 million-mark on Twitter, CSK expressed gratitude towards fans by releasing a special clip. The video featured many stars including skipper Dhoni as they thanked fans for being with them through thick and thin.

“Chennai Super #SixerOnTwitter! A big thanks to all the super fans for each and every bouquet and brickbat throughout the last decade. All the #yellove to you” tweeted Chennai Super Kings along with sharing the heartwarming video.
