MS Dhoni gets emotional while speaking on CSK return

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been one of the most celebrated teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has been led by the enigmatic Mahendra Singh Dhoni ever since the opening season and he hasn’t disappointed by any stretch of the imagination. However, the last couple of years hasn’t been overwhelming for the team.

They were suspended for a couple of years owing to match-fixing scandals. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni played a couple of seasons for the Rising Pune Supergiant and captained the team in their debut season. Nevertheless, RPS slumped during the tournament and finished at the bottom half of the table. RPS owner Sanjeev Goenka’s harsh words didn’t make it easy for the wicket-keeper batsman.

Chennai- Back after a couple of years

Thereafter, he stepped down and Steve Smith shouldered the mantle of the franchise in their second season. Nevertheless, after the ban, CSK is set to make a comeback in the tournament. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni will be the torchbearer of the team in their return to the domestic league. The 36-year old has struggled to perform consistently at the international level and has been a recipient of criticism.

However, the Chennai franchise is delighted to see their marquee player return to the squad and would be hoping for the legendary cricketer to reinstate CSK’s authority in the tournament. The Jharkhand-born cricketer also captained his side to a couple of IPL titles and a couple of victories in the scrapped Champions League T20. Meanwhile, his team has never been eliminated before the playoffs.

He was recently at a promotional event where he became emotional and spoke about CSKs return to the T20 extravaganza. He also thanked the fans for constantly showering love and support for the franchise throughout their period of turbulence.
