Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni is arguably the best wicketkeeper in the world cricket at the moment. While there could be a school of thought that would proclaim the other keepers to be better at him when it comes to diving catches, there is absolutely no match to MSD when it comes to the stumpings. He is the record holder for most number of stumpings in the ODI cricket.

Time and again, he has shown how quick he can get behind the stumps. He gives the batsman absolutely no chance by whipping off the bails in quick time. No wonder why Sachin Tendulkar had once compared Dhoni’s stumpings to lightnings. Hence, in such a backdrop, if he misses a stumping on a given day, it is bound to become a news headline. The world cricket expects to whip off the bails every time the batsman misses the ball.

In a recent incident, MS Dhoni was seen missing a stumping chance. While the disappointment of the fans was expected, Dhoni himself looked disappointed with his effort. He chose to give a dead expression after having missed the stumping chance. The action perspired during the recent Bengaluru ODI between India and Australia on Thursday.

The Australian openers – David Warner and Aaron Finch – were going great guns in the match. It was in the 23rd over the Australian innings, when Yuzvendra Chahal created an opportunity for a breakthrough. He managed to deceive Aaron Finch. Finch danced down the track but missed the ball completely.

MS Dhoni failed to get hold of the ball and Finch lived another day. In fact, Dhoni could not even get his hands to the ball as the ball tickled away to the ropes. Finch eventually scored a vital 94 as Australia piled up a huge total of 334 runs on the board. The openers put on 231 runs for them.
